Vitamin D3 5000 IU is een bijzonder voedingssupplement dat 5.000 IE vitamine D3 per softgel bevat (de vitamine D-vorm met de hoogste biologische beschikbaarheid).Het is versterkt met plantaardige zonnebloemolie om de absorptie te vergroten.
Door dagelijks of tweemaal per week Vitamin D3 5000 IU in te nemen, kan snel een stijging worden verkregen van het circulerende vitamine D-gehalte, zo blijkt uit ondersteunend bloedonderzoek. Het heeft een positieve invloed op hart- en vaatziekten, op de endocriene functies, op het zenuwstelsel, op het immuunsysteem en op de cognitieve functies.
Voor wie is dit supplement Vitamin D3 5000 IU bedoeld?
Recente studies tonen aan dat bijna alle mensen (1-4) die in de gematigde gebieden en de poolstreken wonen tussen oktober en april een niet-adequaat vitamine D-gehalte hebben (5-6). Het vitamine D-gehalte is het laagst in maart (7-8).
Vitamin D3 5000 IU is dan ook bedoeld voor alle inwoners van Frankrijk, Italië, Duitsland, Spanje, Nederland, Portugal, Polen, Engeland, Canada en de Verenigde staten voor gebruik tijdens de herfst- en wintermaanden.
Vitamine D kan door ons lichaam zelf worden aangemaakt onder invloed van ultraviolette straling (UV-B) van de zon. De omstandigheden voor deze aanmaak zijn in de gematigde gebieden van het noordelijk halfrond echter niet zo ideaal, uiteraard vanwege de hoek waaronder de zon schijnt, maar ook vanwege de weersomstandigheden in de herfst en winter. Ook onze leefstijl speelt een rol. In deze tijd van het jaar komen we niet vaak genoeg buiten en als we dat wel doen, dan zijn we meestal goed ingepakt. De vitamine D-aanmaak is dan ook niet optimaal. De piek in de aanmaak zakt vanaf november snel in en de voorraden slinken.
Vitamin D3 5000 IU kan door verschillende groepen mensen ook goed in het voorjaar worden gebruikt (40% van de bevolking heeft in die periode nog een tekort). Het gaat om de volgende groepen:
- Mensen met een donker huidtype die in een gematigde gebied of in een poolstreek wonen, aangezien zij meer zon nodig hebben om dezelfde hoeveelheid vitamine D aan te maken dan mensen met een lichter huidtype.
- Mensen die beperkt mobiel zijn, aangezien ze minder vaak n de zon zijn.
- Mensen met overgewicht, omdat de vetlagen in de huid de vitamine D die onder invloed van de zon wordt aangemaakt in beslag nemen.
- Mensen die ouder zijn dan 50 (9), omdat ze minder blootgesteld worden aan de zon (in verband met een fragieler wordende huid) en omdat de omzetting van de voorlopers (precursors) van vitamine D in de epitheelcellen in het huidoppervlak naar vitamine D moeizamer verloopt.
- Mensen die last hebben van botziekten.
- Mensen die problemen hebben met de opname van voedsel en die last hebben van een ontstekingsziekte in de darm, aangezien zij moeilijker vetten kunnen opnemen.
- Mensen die een specifiek dieet volgen (zonder vlees, vis of eieren en zonder producten die verrijkt zijn met vitamine D).
- Mensen die in vervuilde steden leven, aangezien de CO2 de UV-straling absorbeert.
- Mensen die systematisch crèmes gebruiken die hen beschermen tegen UVB-stralen (factor >15), want de crèmes kunnen de UVB die in de huid komt met 99% verminderen.
Voor al deze mensen is Vitamin D3 5000 IU vaak de veiligste manier om snel het vitamine D-gehalte te verhogen en die het hele jaar door op peil te houden.

Let op: Bij een hoeveelheid van meer dan 2 000 IE per dag, verdient het de voorkeur een 25-hydroxy vitamine D- analyse te doen. Bij nieraandoeningen geen vitamine D3 innemen zonder toestemming van uw arts. De totale dosering van 10 000 IE per dag, met inbegrip van alle andere vitamine D-bronnen, niet overschrijden zonder dat uw arts u dit heeft aangeraden.
